Find a Dog a Home (not mine)

Aja
7 month old, female Weimaraner

Well, it looks like I have the opportunity to find this little girl a home.  We picked her up yesterday from a couple in Sayner.  Aja was a little to rough with their one year old miniature Chihuahua. The two dogs were on their own most days and Aja's pent up energy had turned to frustration, which manifested in chewing furniture and a lot of territorial barking and behavior.

Now she is part of our pack until Great Lakes Weimaraner Rescue can find a "real" foster home or a permanent home.  There is a 6-8 week wait list for foster homes after the papers have been signed.

A Bit About Aja

Aja is an energetic young girl full of personality.  She is 7 months old and weighs 50 pounds.  She is having a great time with her three Weimaraner foster sisters and brother. Aja loves to run in the snow, wrestle with her foster brother and play ball.  She is completely house broken and knows basic obedience commands.  She is good with children. Cats interest her, but don’t bother her. She has been very respectful toward her 10 year old foster sisters - they do not always like to play.

Aja’s owners chose to rehome her because she was a little too rough with their miniature Chihuahua and had a hard time being left alone all day. She is not crate trained.  Like many Weimaraners, she is a people dog; she loves to be part of the family and is a great cuddler. She has been spayed and micro-chipped and is a very healthy dog. Car trips are not a problem for Aja; she sleeps quietly in the back seat.

The Plan

Pete would really like to keep her, but I think the house is a little too small for another full-time resident. I think the other dogs are a little bit stressed; she is constantly in motion.  The owners have to fill out about three pages of relinquishment forms and fax them into the Rescue.  At that point Aja's picture and story can go up on the website and she can get on the foster waiting list.  Of course there is always the possibility that she may be adopted right away.  She is a really good looking and very good for a pup. There are 40 Weimaraners currently available for adoption - 7 in Wisconsin.

Please give their site a look. There is a lot of information about the breed and opportunities to volunteer and/or donate to the cause.  The Rescue is a non-profit organization run by a group of great volunteers.
